Privacy policy

The short version

• We collect the details you give us so we can quote and do your job.
• We don't sell your information, and we don't send you marketing unless you've agreed to it.
• Our website and email run on services based overseas, mainly in the United States.
• You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you at any time.

What we collect

When you ask for a quote on this website, we collect your name and phone number, plus anything else you choose to give us:

• your email address, and your suburb or address;
• the work you need, details about the trees and the site, when you'd like it done and what to do with the green waste;
• your message and any photos you attach;
• the estimate from our price calculator, if you used it.

The form also tells us which page you sent it from.

When you call, text or email us, we keep the details you give us so we can answer you, quote and do the work.

When you become a customer, we keep records of your quote, the job and our invoice.

When you use this website, Vercel Web Analytics counts your visit: the page, where you came from, roughly where you are, and your device, browser and operating system. It also counts when someone taps our phone number, clicks through to a quote or sends a quote request, but not what they wrote. It doesn't use cookies. It tells visits apart with a code made from your browser's request, which it discards after 24 hours, and its records aren't linked to you or your IP address.

The company that hosts our website keeps standard technical logs for a short time, including IP addresses and the pages requested. Our quote form also checks the IP address a request comes from, to block spam. It holds that in memory for a short time and doesn't keep a record of it.

We don't ask for sensitive information, such as health details, so please leave it out of your message.

Photos you send us

Photos help us see the trees, the access and any hazards before we quote. Please send photos of the trees and the area around them, and leave people out of them where you can. Photos can show other things too, such as your house or car, so only send what you're comfortable sharing. They reach us attached to the quote email.

How we use your information

• To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote.
• To call or text you about your quote and your job.
• To arrange, carry out and follow up the work.
• To send invoices and keep our business records.
• To keep this website working, free of spam and easy to use.

We use your information only for these purposes, for related purposes you'd reasonably expect, or where the law requires or allows it. Only your name and phone number are needed. Without them, we can't get back to you to quote. We won't send you marketing emails or texts unless you've agreed to them, and you can stop them at any time.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

• The services that run our website and email. Vercel hosts this website, runs the quote form and counts visits. Resend delivers each quote request to our inbox. Google Workspace holds our email.
• People who help with your job, such as a consulting arborist if your job needs an arborist's report.
• Our insurer, accountant or lawyer, if a claim or a legal matter about your job needs it.
• Anyone else you ask us to, or where the law requires or allows it.

Information that goes overseas

Vercel, Resend and Google are based overseas, so your information is stored or processed outside Australia:

• Vercel, a United States company, hosts this website, runs the quote form and counts visits.
• Resend sends each quote request through its servers in Japan and the United States, and keeps a copy of it, including any photos, in the United States for 30 days.
• Google stores our email in its data centres, which may be in the United States and other countries.

We send them only what they need to do their part.

Cookies

This website doesn't use cookies. Vercel Web Analytics counts visits without them, and the quote form doesn't need them.

Our price calculator

The calculator works out a rough price range from the job details you choose. It isn't a quote, and it doesn't make any decision about you. Every quote is prepared by our team.

How we look after it

The quote form doesn't keep your details on the website. It sends them straight to our business email. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only for as long as we need it for your job and our business records. If your information is ever lost or exposed in a way that could harm you, we'll tell you.

Links to other websites

This website links to other sites, such as our Instagram and Facebook pages. Their own privacy policies apply there.

See or correct your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. There's no charge, and we may ask you to confirm who you are. Call us on 0438 988 985 or email info@colourfultreelopping.com.au, and we'll reply within 30 days.

Questions or complaints

If you have a question or a complaint about how we've handled your information, call or email us using the details above. We'll look into it and reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain in writing to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner through oaic.gov.au. Its enquiries line is 1300 363 992.

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post any changes here, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
