What affects tree removal pricing
Every tree is different, so we quote each job on its own: what the tree weighs, how long it will take and what's in the way. These are the things that usually make the difference. The percentages are typical across Brisbane, not our price list.
The size and type of tree
The biggest factor. Bigger trees take longer and need more people and gear.
How easy it is to get to
Backyard or side access: about 15 to 30% more. Tight, steep or no machine access: 50% more, up to double. Our elevated work platform helps with trees in hard-to-reach spots.
What's nearby
A house, fence, shed or pool close by: about 10 to 40% more. It means more care, with controlled cuts and sometimes rigging to guide the tree's fall.
Power lines
Trees near power lines: about 20 to 50% more. If the line has to be disconnected first, Energex may also charge a fee.
Dead, damaged or leaning
Typically about 20 to 50% more, because the tree needs more care to take down safely.
Urgent jobs
After-hours and storm call-outs: 50% more, up to double.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Brisbane?
Often you don't, but some trees are protected under Brisbane City Council's Natural Assets Local Law. Permit applications are free, and Council says it will contact you within 20 business days. You generally don't need one to prune no more than 20% of a tree's live foliage in 12 months, spread evenly over the crown; to remove a tree whose whole trunk is within 3 m of your house (on blocks up to 4,000 m²); or to maintain garden plants with a trunk under 30 cm across, measured at 1.4 m.
These exemptions don't cover significant landscape trees. Check your property on Council's City Plan mapping, or call Council on (07) 3403 8888. If Council asks for an arborist report, a Level 5 report typically costs $350–$700.
